As Allied forces pushed into Germany and Austria in 1945, American soldiers came face to face with the Nazi camps. Veterans including Burnett Miller and Dwain Luce describe the dying and the dead at Mauthausen and Ludwigslust, and Waterbury medic Ray Leopold recounts the human experimentation he found at Hadamar. The horror, they say, never left them.
